Very convenient trap. It is easy to set up and it works well. I have had it up for a while now and have noticed about 10 bugs trapped to the sticky paper. I was looking for a trap without harmful chemicals and this one has been great.
I have a Zevo fly trap and had it up at the same time as I put this Mosalogic one up. After a few days, I checked and the Mosalogic caught way more flies and bugs than my Zevo did. I like that there’s a motion sensor included, but I just kept it on the whole time for maximum fly capture. Needless to say, I’ll be getting refills for this one!
We have had a bad fruit fly issue for a while sp I got this hoping it woukd help. I've had it plugged in for a little over a week and it's caught some flies but I was hoping for more. I'm going to give it more time but it's probably caught 10 flies in a week and while every one caught helps... I've got more than that flying around here. It does work it's just slow. They are easy to use and you can change the light from a blue light to white to off. You can pick and the stick traps are easy to stick in. It's a very simple design but still effective. Hoping we catch a bunch more soon.
This product claims to catch a wide assortment of bugs. After using it for a few weeks, I can say it catches some flying insects, but not all of them. First, this is very easy to setup and use. Once you pull the backing off the sticky paper, it slides into the plug-in portion of the device. Find an open plug, plug it in, and it automatically works. Insects are attracted to the glowing light, so there is not smell or noise. The purple/blue light is bright enough to act as a night light with the hope of catching insects. I can report that it did catch some gnats in my house. The picture shows two gnats caught on the back side closest to the wall. However, it did not catch the one insect I hate in my house: flies. The package claims it will catch house flies. I guess the flies that come in from the outside are not house flies, nor are they attracted to the blue light. I have 6 flies come into the house, and this device caught none of them. I wish it worked better for flies. Overall, this product will catch some flying insects, but not all of them, so be prepared to use a good old fashioned fly swatter as needed.
I’ve had this plugged in near my compost bowl for 13 days, and it’s definitely effective—it’s caught a good number of gnats. The soft blue night light is a nice bonus. The cartridge is a super-sticky piece of cardboard, white on the outward-facing side, which blends in well with the device. That said, I wish only the back were sticky—I’d rather not see the gnats piling up over time. I suppose I could leave the film on the white side to prevent that. Aside from that, no complaints. It works.
FAQ
Q: Is it safe to use this trap around my kids, pets, or even in the nursery?
A: Yes. There's no chemical spray, no exposed electric grid. The light gently attracts flying pests and they get stuck on a hidden sticky pad inside. That's it. You can leave it on in the kitchen, bedroom, or baby's room when used as directed.
Q: Can I use it as a night light?
A: Totally. The glow is soft and calm — not harsh, not blinding. A lot of parents like to leave it on overnight as a little night light in the hallway or nursery. It helps you see at night without waking the baby, and it's quietly working the whole time.
Q: How loud is it?
A: It's basically silent. There's no fan, no motor, and no zapping noise. You don't get that "crackle" or "buzz" other bug devices make. You'll forget it's even on.
Q: Does it smell weird?
A: Nope. There's no burnt-bug smell, no perfume bait, and no pesticide odor in the air. You just get a quiet light and a hidden sticky pad doing the work.
Q: How does it actually catch bugs?
A: The special UVA light is what does the job. Little flying pests (fruit flies, gnats, drain flies, fungus gnats from plant soil, tiny "annoying-at-night" mosquitos) are drawn to that light. When they come close, they land on the high-tack sticky pad inside and stay there. No suction, no shock — just light and a super-sticky pad.
Q: When should I start seeing results?
A: Bug activity is different in every home. Some people see insects on the pad in a day or two. For others — especially if you only have a few flies here or there — it may take a few nights. We recommend this: set it where you actually see bugs, leave it running, and then check the sticky pad after about a week. That gives it time to quietly collect whatever is cruising around your space.
Q: Where should I put it for best results?
A: Put it right where the bugs hang out: near the fruit bowl or compost bin (fruit flies), next to the trash / sink / drain (drain flies, gnats), beside houseplants or damp potting soil (fungus gnats), in the room where that one tiny mosquito keeps finding you at night. Closer to the source = better catch.
Q: How do I clean it? Do I have to touch bugs?
A: No touching. All the insects end up on a disposable sticky pad inside the unit. When you're ready, just slide the pad out, toss it in the trash, and pop in a fresh one. Done.
Q: How often do I need to replace the sticky pad?
A: Check about once a month, or sooner if you know you've got a gnat/fruit fly problem. Our pads are thick, super sticky, and made to hold up under the light — they don't dry out right away or turn brittle. You don't have to swap them every couple days.
